Hugo Race Report – Womens Race
I signed up for Hugo because I knew that it would be an epic road race and I wanted to do the race with my teammate Darcy. Plus, I did sign on with a racing team, and despite my age and gender, that’s what I love to do. Since I am a Masters racer, I have to pay the same amount of money as the other (mostly male) racers, but the prize money, if there is any, is not nearly as much as other categories. Deer Trail Road Race 4/23 – SM3 – Chris J
One of the things that i’ve discovered i love about bike racing is that a lot of the discipline and decision making skills that racing (or any sport) helps you develop apply to real life as well. I discover this in small ways all the time.

Deer Trail Road Race Report (Sort of) – TimL
5:30 am – Loading my car up for race day, I briefly checked current weather conditions for Deer Trail, CO. 34 degrees, average wind 5 mph, and 50% humidity. I should have realized then that the odds were against me but I also knew that 82 other racers in the 35+4 category were facing the same conditions. Perhaps it would be to my advantage? Mountain States Cup #1
Prior to going to bed on Saturday night I packed my bag with all the cold weather and rain gear I had. Given the weather forecast I knew we were in for an epic day in the Springs. To my surprise, I awoke to blue skies. Paul Tanguay (The Commish, Gin and Juice) picked me up at 7 am sharp. On our drive down I-25 we could actually see Pikes Peak from Fort Collins – a big surprise. Although it was cold, at least we had clear skies. Paul and I arrived for our Cat I start. Mead Roubaix 4/10/11 – SM3 – Chris J
By now, most everybody has heard all about the 2011 Mead Roubaix. a race that seems bound for legend status in colorado race lore. one of those races where most are happy to just finish (only about half the starters did in many cats), and a select few proved themselves true “hard men” (and women).

Louisville Criterium 4/2/11 SM3 – Chris J
I dont really love crits, and dont consider them a strength, (my best finish in cat4 was 12th or 13th i think). but i was itchin to race this weekend, and i’m training this year with the idea that crits are good workouts for my weaknesses: super-threshold efforts. (my threshold/endurance pace is pretty solid but i feel like i need a bit more pop for my rr/sr ambitions). So last saturday i dragged my wife down to the boulder burbs for the Louisville Criterium.
