Deer Trail SM3

The Train Taylor, Hendo, Ruben and myself lined up for 58 miles of out and back rollers. A fairly strong breeze out of the north was gonna make this all about position given the full menu of head/tail and crosswinds.

The first out and back, into the wind, saw all four of us rolling through at the front. As soon as I saw the cone for the 20 foot wide U-turn, I gave it gas to get around first. That proved to be the right thing as those of us who made it around first immediately stepped on the throttle, and, with the tailwind, had things stretched out already with guys unable to get back on. Assault on Allen’s Park (Sat May 8, 2010)

We assembled at the Oval at 9AM on a crisp winter day – wait a minute, it was actually May 8th! Nonetheless I was wearing a short sleeved jersey with thermal arm warmers, a long sleeve jersey and a thermal vest. In my back pocket I had a light weight wind jacket to keep the chill down when we reached the summit around 9500 feet. Lookout Mtn HC & Sandstone Crit

After working in Portland Monday-Friday I decided to pony up and do the Lookout Mountain Hillclimb, mostly to get BAR/BAT points and to help Dan try for a “w”.  I know he hasn’t been climbing much lately but his form has really been coming around.   Dan picked me up at 530am, less than 12 hours after returning from Portland…ouch.  Continue Reading »
